Pre-school Ages 3-5

An exceptional nursery staff, follows a full-day nursery program built on warmth and consistency. Campers learn kindergarten readiness skills and grow socially and emotionally. A staff to child ratio of 1:3 ensures each child has the attention needed to be safe, and feel secure and happy at camp.

Even these small campers participate in the many camp-wide event days, and work with our camp-wide specialty staff to enjoy on-going enrichment and learning opportunities.

The gated, self-contained, facility consists of a large indoor playroom, private playground, a custom heated inground swimming pool, and a picnic area.

“My son had an amazing time in nursery last year and can’t wait to come back to camp! Been counting the days…”

Jamee Goldstein, parent and Rosmarins alumna

A Typical Pre-School Camper’s Day

The entire camp begins each camp day together with games and silly counselor skits centered around the day’s theme.
Campers put their bags in their cubbies and change into bathing suits and enjoy a quick healthy snack before starting a BUSY day.
Campers carefully practice tracing a shape, tracing their name, or writing their name, depending on their ability, continually setting new attainable goals feeling pride in their accomplishments. Upon completion they play quietly on the magic carpet and wait for their friends.
A brief morning meeting is an opportunity to greet and welcome each child and introduce the day’s activities, centered around an age appropriate interpretation of the camp’s theme of the week.
There are several morning activities daily which might include:

  • Daily Swim Lessons – provided by our trained American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors in a private heated inground pool
  • Fishing and Boating on Walton Lake
  • Music & Movement
  • Specialized Sports Program – either learning a new sport or practicing an old favorite
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Cooking
  • Gardening
  • Traditional childhood favorites like red light green light, duck, duck goose, and telephone
Counselors sit with children encouraging healthy eating habits and independent clean-up. The best and most interesting conversations happen during lunch!
After such a busy morning the kids pull out their mats for yoga, either inside on the magic carpet, or under the big beautiful trees. Yoga nicely flows into naptime, so campers can recharge their batteries for the afternoon
Children cool off, practice what they learned in instructional swim, and play with their friends in the pool.
We have ice cream under the trees in our gated facility, each camper and counselor sharing what was his/her favorite part of our busy day.
We change back into our warm dry clothes to go home, and the children pack their own bags (with the counselors support).
Campers play in the nursery’s private play area using their imaginations and developing their large motor skills in the sandbox, on the climbing apparatus, and on the swings.
The entire camp gathers again to share highlights of the day and campers’ accomplishments. Specialists distribute projects to go home. Campers are accompanied to their busses, and we say our goodbyes with a smile, knowing we will see each other tomorrow.
Children enjoy center time, indoor sports activities, art projects and music and movement.
